May 14th D-day

Tyler and I both completed the Stonebridge Ranch olympic distance triathalon. We have decided to compete in another race on May 14th. I barely made it through the first one, but I started my training for the race in May yesterday with a 40 min swim at the YMCA. Meanwhile my intermediate goal is to be in the best shape of my life for Feb 4th....the other D-Day.

Undead

Like a zombie poking his head out from under the ground, I have returned... despite all appearances of having died off as a blogger. I have what may become a workable schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are opportunities for a full workout at the YMCA. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays are perfect for yoga. My thought is that I will post daily now as I attempt to slim down before purchasing new suits for work on January 1, 2006. That gives me about a month and a half. With fairly minor changes in eating habits (I only half-succeeded last time), and with a renewed commitment to working out daily, I think I can progress rapidly.

The new plan is to workout at 3:30pm M, W, F, at 4:30pm T, Th, Sa, and maybe jog on Sundays or just take off a day. I can break up my work day a little by leaving after markets close, and then returning for evening cold calling about an hour and a half later. I can work until 7:30 or 8:00pm without too much trouble if I recharge via workout.

As for eating, I have been less terrible in food selection but more irresponsible in food timing. I often fail to eat breakfast until around 9:30 or even 10:00am, even though I chose a yogurt parfet with yogurt, strawberries, and blueberries. Lunch has been sliding around anywhere from 11:00 am on no-breakfast days to 1:30pm on late-breakfast days. Dinner migrates from 5:30pm post-workout to 8:00pm when I skipped working out for the day. My body just doesn't have a chance when I don't set meals at regular intervals. In terms of healthiness, lunches and dinners vary widely, but I am trying to stick to high-protein dinners, such as steak, with a side of healthy veggies, e.g. brocolli. Food selection needs to be more consistent and disciplined.

This upcoming week is a good opportunity to wipe off the chalkboard and write a new history. How are the rest of y'all coming along?
