63 miles of pain

Everything is going good. Swim is improving, run is not an issue, and i am the best cyclist i have ever been. I decided to lift legs heavily on Thursday and the pain was still their on Sat morning for Peach Pedal. Needless to say, I made it through the most excruciating race from a pain standpoint i have ever had, but it was a good dose of training.

Turtle loves to swim..

I realized my inner turtle today in that I love to swim. I am doing some swimming drills to help increase my lung capacity therefore making the swim much easier. I find that I have trouble swimming properly when I can't breath. Increased lung capacity = easier breathing = better more relaxed swim. I am getting a pull buoy for my swims to help train my arms and work breathing techniques. Your plan sounds good that you described. I would also like to do a sprint in August sometime.

Run

I ran today in the heat. Didn't go far (1.5 miles) but did it fast. Weights yesterday plan on long bike tomorrow. My overall plan is to continue getting the feel of everything and what my body can recover from thru the end of June. In July i will begin working on the bike more. I am still going to run only once a week until the weight and thus the impact is down. August will begin brick work on the weekends and a few two a-days and a sprint triathlon. September will be 3 weeks of pain then a week of good rest before the event.

make sure...

make sure that your pool is a 50m pool. That would be impressive if it was...my bet is it is 25m (although I could be wrong)

I swam 1000m today with a combo of breaststroke and freestyle. 40 laps in my pool is 1000m and I did 20 laps of each stroke. Eventually the pace will need to get faster and I will need to learn to breathe out of both side during freestyle. I talked to a swimming instructor that was giving lessons and she said to do both.

With all that I am recruiting for the race we have you, me, dan, and 4 people from the gym. Good times.

Tour de Rain in Italy, Tx

We rode in the rain for 30 miles, but the sandwhich Tyler's Grandmother made was worth it. Two weeks into Triathlon 07 training and feeling good. Pants are looser and I didnt have any trouble staying in the saddle on the hills. Today will be weights followed by a swim. I will swim as many freestyle laps as possible in a row and begin to keep track of my total on here. Right now i can do 2 laps (100m) so it will take some work, but 4 times in the pool a week should fix it. I hope i dont vomit, but i plan on pushing it to that point until 1500m is a piece of cake in the pool. We know the open swim will be much harder.

Stairway to Muenster

The weather has been crappy so I havent been on the bike. I have, however, been hitting the weights after 30 minute killer sessions (intervals) on the stairclimber. The Muenster ride is in two weeks, 40 miles is the goal for me. I am hoping to do the ride at 225. The ultimate goal will be the hotter than hell 100 and an October Olympic Distance Triathlon. I will be blogging more.
